Know me some!

imageThis is an awards post by an extremely laggard person. I am late as ever but I do accept all the nominations with utmost delight! These awards…they pump me up and make me want to dance; do that Gangnam style step. Only they need a lot of thinking and writing and energy and so, I am always late. Then again, they are a great medium to interact. Now without further ado, I’ll get started!

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award…was nominated by Deb and xiaohuamaobiji(Yen) for this. It surprises me to an extent because I only have a handful of girlfriends and I keep quarrelling with them too! Nevertheless, thank you very much you two. I accept the Sisterhood with open arms! 🙂 Do check their blogs out. Deb’s daily grateful posts make me smile every day. She constantly reaches out and encourages you beyond measure. And Yen is a very diligent blogger who also happens to be a bibliophile. She must have totally forgotten that she nominated me, in another era!

•             Put the Award logo on your blog

•             Thank the person who nominated you, linking back to their site

•             Answer 10 questions the person asked you

•             Nominate 10 blogs and notify them

•             Write 10 new questions for them

Answers people!!!
These were Deb’s questions.

1. What’s your favorite song? No particular favorites. Fix you by Coldplay coming in my mind. And in hindi, Rangrez from Tanu Weds Manu.

2. What’s one thing you are grateful for? My family, totally.

3. What’s your favorite day of the week and why? I love Saturdays. Why? Each of my Saturdays go differently, unlike other days, may be that’s why.

4. Do you work or are you retired? I work.

5. Early Bird or Night Owl? Oh Night owl since forever. I do wonder what being an early bird would feel like.

6. How long have you been blogging? Less than a year, almost a year. How do I put it?? 0.833 year. I started blogging in Dec’14.

7. What did you want to be when you grew up? If I remember correctly, I wanted to be a doctor. And now if given a chance I would like to ask my younger self, why did you want to become a doctor??? They have to cut bodies. Basically, I wasn’t much serious about it while growing up.

8. What do you do for relaxation? I listen to songs. I dance. To put it more correctly, I monkey dance.

9. Which of your own posts is your favorite? oh! I think I am bad with favorites. I did like a line I wrote in this one post “I’ll imbibe you such that the difference cannot be told”, no favorites apart from that.

10. Do you believe in ghosts? I am so scared of (movie)ghosts.. Don’t ever want to face one in real life. That does make me a believer I suppose!
These were from Yen.

1. What type of weather do you like? I do like all weathers. BUT winters, I Loooove..they have their own charm.

2. What is your favourite colour? Mustard I guess.

3. What is your favourite drink? Does mango shake count? I love mango milkshakes. I don’t drink much otherwise.

4. What is your favourite pastime? Sitting idle, talking to my friends.

5. What do you find inspiring? Rooted and hardworking people. You know who don’t crib about every second problem. And even if they crib, they get past it.

6. Do you have pets? No. :(. I want one so bad. My friends say I won’t be able to give time.

7. Do you cook? uhh. Shudder. I have to cook as I stay alone. But I don’t find any part of it amusing. I wasn’t born to cook, but to shop, that’s what my apron says, so you can get the idea.

8. Coffee or tea? COFFEE.

9. If you could only live on one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Burger may be, something related to bread.

10. Use 3 words to describe you. (thinking…) Capricious, Sensitive and Biased(towards things or people I like)

Okay so ladies, here are my nominations,

imageAnd now the one that had me going weeehooooooo…Versatile Blogger Award by bp7o9(popular as Beeps). There was this particular line that made me all gooey. “So I’ll take some time to acknowledge people who’ve let everything hang out on the page”. :-). <3. She is the first one I have come across who would put so much of her time to acknowledge fellow bloggers, ever so generously!!! Thank you and hugs(even if you are not a hugger) Do check her blog!

– Tell seven random facts about you.

– Link the person who nominated you.

– Nominate other bloggers who you think bring various things to the plate(I have tweaked this rule a little..nominate as many you like!)

Now BP asked me to Dig Deep. Here is my attempt. Seven things you didn’t know about me:

1. I am always uncomfortable with the way my hairs are tied. I keep changing it several times in a day. I’ll make a bun, then a pony, then will let them loose…Is this some sort of disorder that I am not aware of?

2. I am a stacker. I pile up so many useless things. It is very difficult for me to even dispense a filled notepad or an over used top. So my room keeps filling.

3. I don’t quite like umbrellas. Sure they look cute, but I don’t like using them. I would rather drench in the rain.

4. I also don’t like heart breaks; but apparently I am on a heart breaking(aka getting my heart broken)spree without choice. Does the chain ever end?

5. I want to muster enough courage one day to hold a snake(non poisonous of course!) in my hands. Which would be a hell lottttttttttttt of courage.

6. I don’t quite like porno movies. I don’t get the kick! Sometimes I wonder if it is odd.

7. Till now you would have realized, I don’t like so many things. This is one bad trait of mine. I say No a lot due to my stubbornness. Is stuck up the word? No I won’t call myself that, but a little difficult, yes.

My nominees:

Tejas, shitij, aakansha, Deb, poetryandchocolates, Soumya

Okay amigos, I am done here! Phew. Thank you! 🙂

Weeehoooo…Awards post!

Yeah right….like I am a celebrity! 😀

I couldn’t muster up the energy so long, for this post. The thoughts kept running in my head like…if I am gloomy how could I write something happy. How would the joy reflect? These award nominations make me immensely cheerful and I decided I would step out of my slumber mood, go ahead and do it.

First and foremost, it was Rene who nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger award. You can just visit her blog and witness sunshine! She seems to me one energy packed person. Thank you for the award Rene…here are my answers to your quirky questions:
1.What is your favorite Stephen King novel? Why? If you don’t read his books, why not? What’s wrong with you? (Just kidding!)
I would say, I wasn’t acquainted with him so far. Yeah, probably something is wrong with me there and now that I have been enlightened on this, I am ordering his book, not out of obligation but because I enjoy ghost stories.

2.Do you chew gum? What is your favorite flavor/brand?
I do at times. Not for the taste but for how one’s mouth looks so cool when chewing it. :D. Bad-ass sorts.   I like Boomer, they have it in India. As a kid, I used to collect tattoo stickers that came along with it.

3.Do you like rollercoasters? Wooden or steel?
I love rollercoasters. All kinds. They get me shit scared and I still go, all pumped up. Then I scream.

4.What is the longest stretch of time you have ever stayed awake? How were you feeling before you finally fell asleep?
I didn’t quite keep track of time. Normally, I cannot sleep if something is bugging me, if I am distressed. A recent turmoil kept me awake for two-three nights. Then the current went off and I had no option left but to sleep. I guess I felt tired. That would be the general feeling.

5.Have you ever watched a movie with your parents where you were embarrassed by something that came on-screen? How did you/they react?
Uhh it is super awkward every time that happens. Mostly I would be very smart in choosing the movie but sometimes you cannot help if suddenly the actor actress go bananas over each other and start making out like gorillas. I just look at the screen and pray it ends soon(and also make a mental note to see it later, alone!) 😀

6.Do you think that humankind will ever colonize in space?
I think that would happen, with the speed that we are advancing in Science. I would like to be alive to see it.

7.What is the most over-rated movie to ever be revered? Why don’t you like it?
I don’t quite like animated movies in general and there is always so much buzz surrounding them. I just don’t relate. I don’t hate them but yeah animations would be my answer.

8.Olive Garden: delicious not so fast Italian food, or restaurant that should be destroyed and never seen again?
I haven’t tried it yet. Sorry, might have to skip this question.

9.How many pairs of shoes do you own?
Oh..forty something…yeah I went ahead and roughly counted! I love them all.

10.Favorite movie with Bill Murray?
I guess Charlie’s Angels is his only movie that I have watched.

11.What is your favorite kid’s book? What do you like about it?
As a kid, my mom used to buy me a lot of fairy tales(she has pampered me a little too much). So all those stories with a damsel in distress and a prince coming up to her rescue, love brewing in between them, happily ever after endings, I loved them. Cinderella, Rapunzel, Snow white….love them all!
There was another ray of sunshine falling on my block with nomination from Allison (allirae21). A very interesting and happy feely blog she owns, I must say. Do check it out! Thank you for nominating me and here are my answers:
1. What would be your dream job, if there were no obstacles in the way of you landing that job?
I have nothing huge in my mind, I would love to teach some day as a profession.
2. Where is your next vacation going to be? And if it’s not planned out yet, where are you hoping to go?
I am going to Goa very soon; it’s all beaches and I will be meeting my close pals. I am excited for this one! I love vacations. If I could surmise, I would say I earn only to go on vacations and to shop. :D.
3. What is your favorite season and why?
Winters. The chill. The shivers. The warmth of woollen clothes. The fun of having ice cream in winters! And I think winters are quite romantic too.
4. What was the last movie you watched?
It was a pathetic Hindi movie, Hero, yeah pathetic would suffice. My friend dragged me into it. Yeah, I get dragged along often.
5. What is your favorite go-to snack?
French fries. M lovin’ it! 🙂
Ain’t it bursting awards or what?! This kind-hearted soul, nimz, nominated me for the Brotherhood of the bloggers award. Brotherhood is a powerful term and I love the bonding it emanates. Sometimes my friends call me bro! 😀 Thanks for considering me nimz, here are my answers:
1.What according to you is a miracle? Have you experienced any?
Miracles….i think nature in itself is an absolute miracle. I mean, look around and you will be spellbound.
2.What you think is your best quality?
I care. I care a lot. I think that is a good as well as harmful quality.
3.Are you someone who reacts spontaneously or some one who will take a step after thinking twice and thrice?
Spontaneous. I don’t put much thought. I do things I like, go on my instincts. I do fiddle while deciding but then if it’s meant to be done, it’s done.
4.Have you came across any life changing moment? What is it?
Seeing myself living as an adult is a life changing moment. I was never up for it. I learnt in tiny strides. Still doing.
5.Describe yourself in a word.
Whimsical. :).
Last and of course not the least, Neerja (NJ) nominated me for Premio Dardos Award. Something I heard for the first time from her. It means Prize Darts in English. It’s given in a healthy blogger spirit for creative/original writing. Thank you Neerja! First time I visited her blog, I felt oh I can relate. Her blog title is ametalk..and when I read it, I was like wow, people put so much effort into their blog titles. :)!  I am delighted for the nomination.

So guys, you know ample about me now, that’s what awards do. And these award posts get pretty long, so thank you readers for taking interest and reading till this point.
I would nominate following people for the Sunshine Blogger award:

Mr Tookles

I am not framing ten questions but I would like you to share the first thought you get when you hear these words…1. Opposite sex 2. Ice cream 3. Internet 4. First kiss 5. Song on your mind 6. Long Drives 7. Marriage 8. Nights 9. Prized Possession 10. Fear

That would be it. Have a great day, you all!

Sunshine & Sweetheart Awards

Did you guys know Liebster is German for sweetheart..:)?!

I have been gifted this award by the beautiful Melinda…who is totally obsessed with all things purple and is so full of life, it reflects in each of her posts! I will earnestly accept this award, Melinda. We can have a formal ceremony for it, where we come dressed in purple! I know we both will look a zillion bucks .. 😛

Also, believe in my awesome luck to get nominated for another mushy mushy award: The Sunshine blogger award! The one to bestow this upon me was Neerja who herself is sweetness personified. Us women like to talk! You blog a gloomy post and she will show her concern. I love such people. And yes ma’am you reciprocate sunshine in my life with your comments. :). Thank you!

So, Liebster award is one great platform to know fellow bloggers and help them grow(in blogging of course). Rules are pretty simple –

  1. You get nominated, you nominate 11 other budding bloggers. Also link the person who considers you a Liebster.
  2. Answer the questions posed on you.
  3. Provide another set of 11 questions for your nominees.
  4. Thank and celebrate and jump…that’s all on your discretion!

Sunshine award is pretty much similar, just you get to decide on the count of questions. And you nominate people who kind of lit up your day with their words :)!

here are my answers Melinda:

1. When did you start blogging and why?

Oh it was an outcome of severe heart-break or sorts. Was very gloomy back in those days and thought to channel my thoughts to something good.

2. What is your favorite childhood memory?

Mom and Dad buying ice cream for me and my brother. Double scoop in cone with three flavours: Vanilla, Strawberry and Pista. Yummm. Also splashing water on my brother all the time.

3. What book are you currently reading?

I read really slow. It’s a curse. From past few days, I am reading Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell. On young love.

4. What’s your favorite color?

Mustard. I like everything mustard.

5. What’s your favorite guilty pleasure?

Waking up late nights, doing things I like. I really enjoy staying awake late, fully aware of the fact that it will take a toll on me the next morning.

6. Close your eyes, and describe a vivid scent memory.

Mm…I hugged this guy and he smelled amazing. Like ripping the clothes off amazing! Made me feel like coming home and dwelling for long. Now I miss the scent Melinda!

7. What is your favorite thing about blogging?

I like how people share and care and understand whatever you write.

8. If you could travel anywhere in the world, no cost, where would you go?

9. Why did you choose that particular place?

It’s a romantic and lovely place. Looks all peaceful in the pictures I have seen.

10. If you were gifted $150, how would you treat yourself?

You give me any money, I’ll spend it on shopping. Will buy myself some clothing item.

11. Miss America, how will you bring world peace?

By promoting child education. If you make them literate, they will have an open, sensible mind to not fight for baseless issues.

Now, for Neerja’s question:

Do you believe in destiny and if yes then tell us about your one moment that made you believe in it.

Yeah, I believe in destiny. Pretty much. I cannot summarize in one moment but every nice person who has come into my life and stayed, it is somewhere destiny’s trick. Otherwise, how uncanny it is, that our paths crossed? I am more of those, “universe conspires in your favour” sort of person. One evening I was riding with my friend, seated back, kind of lost, and then parallely a bike came and a person dressed as Santa excitedly waved at me. I waved back too, smiling. Can’t tell you how happy that made me! So yeah I do believe in destiny.

Here’s the tough part: nominations and questions!

my nominations for Liebster award,

  1. Why do you blog? Apart from the fact that you love it.

2. Movies or books? What do you prefer more.

3. Favorite memory of drenching in the rain?

4. Do you tend to judge people based on their age?

5. Favourite item to shop?

6. Nocturnal or Diurnal?

11. If you could time travel, you would like reliving what moment?

To my sunshines, here is your question, Share that one thing you really really really want to do, like down the lane, in future?  And the nominations,

Darshith, you do delight me up..sure thing.

Bhanu, i like your on the go solutions. Very practical indeed!

lilrants, you are pretty quirky. Actually, pretty + quirky.

No obligations, nominees! Would be very glad to hear from you though.

P.S. : This cat’s pic because I feel a little gooey today.

Rainy season and it’s pouring awards!

Where to start with..humbled, overjoyed, excited, ecstatic…yes yes..all of that! These nominations make me smile. So let’s get things done that I have been stalling from a few days.
A word of Thank You for the nominations:
Firstly to the ever so generous Darshith, who has nominated me for a bunch of them and in that moment, made me go like Whaaattttt?!!! It’s delightfully rare to see a guy with an expressive side. His posts lighten my mood!
To the beautiful Alisha who is at the very same time observative, she writes and stirs your emotions..
And Debbie who I have recently got to know in the blogging community, last I read from her was about a fun day out in Scotland! She is ever so active to respond to your comments, which I admire.

For the Starlight Blogger, Darshith gave me an option to choose amongst a set of questions and here are my picks:
How do you define *LIFE*?
Life is mysterious at many levels. I think its definition changes with what you are going through at that very moment. For now, life seems pretty cool to me, but in blink of a moment I might say Life sucks! or Life is beautiful! you never know..I never know.

*Emotions* – How do they guide an existence?
They are what differentiate us from machines…they are the reason we connect to other people. They guide our actions. Some say I have become emotionally detached but that again is an emotion of being secluded, the need to be alone. If you look around, we are all entities acting on our emotions, be it good or bad. On a lighter note, the so-called emotions in form of emoticons, I love them too!

Do you believe in Destiny?
Oh…I vehemently do! Every new person I meet, I feel destiny plays some part in it. They say a man is a maker of his own destiny and that is in a way true because our decisions, our actions have consequences; but destiny is that light at the end of every tunnel. I guess when I am low, I rely on destiny more, which is little mean of me. :D.

Okay one down!
Apart from this, I was nominated for Sunshine Blogger Award and Dragon Loyalty Award, how good a feeling it is to know you are spreading sunshine in some part of the world in some other person’s life. As far as loyalty is concerned, I will continue to be one loyal follower! 🙂
For the above three awards, my nominations are:
NJ (Neerja)

Now about Creative blogger award, I find this one a little too over-whelming! 😀 and as it happens, I have been nominated for this before(A Certain Creative Blogger Award)
But there is nothing wrong in yielding five more facts about yourself right?! so here they go:
1. I am a Taurean, and despite of calling it a no big deal, I do read my sun-sign and happen to rejoice if they write something nice. The other day it said: “Little voices are whispering in your ear today, Taurus.” and I was like…ooo really! Basically I enjoy reading my horoscope.
2. Love to play Sudoku, and try getting better at it.
3. Injuries give me creeps; have a habit of making HUGE deal out of TINY scratches.
4. Typical girl trait: Don’t like it if some girl has the same bag/dress/shoes that I bought recently.
5. Loooooove dark chocolates.

I would nominate:
Lauren (i think I have nominated you before too! If so..just bear with me)
Ginni Deville

For the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers, here are my answers Debbie, and luckily I have done this before, so my nominees can find the questions here:
Ahoy Sisters!

1- What inspire you to become a blogger?
The fact that there are many things I can’t easily talk about but can certainly write on!

2- An item you never forget to bring along with you?
My wallet I guess, and my iPod…feel incomplete without it.

3- Favourite type of food?
Home cooked food, probably because I am too lazy in cooking and love those rare occassions when my mom cooks for me.

4- Favourite type of movie?
Romantic ones I guess…or atleast if they have some sort of emotional connect.

5- Are you able to go out without using any makeup? Why?
Yeah would be an understatement to say I am new to makeup…fact is I am no where close to the knowledge of makeup. Never pondered over it much, I do like getting dressed up though! 😀

6- Which topics makes you follow a blog?
If I relate to anything mentioned in the blog, I follow. Also, travel blogs intrigue me. I instantly get an urge to visit those places and do those things.

7- Who is the person you most admire? Why?
Satan, that is the nickname for my best friend. I like his outlook on life, the way he never really worries, his know-it-all trait and his childlike innocence. He is faulty at many levels and I admire him for accepting that.

8- Getting old or being immortal?
I guess getting old. There is one phrase about “getting old gracefully”, I quite like it. I want to have many many many beautiful moments in the process of getting old.

9- Favourite musical instrument?
Guitarrrrrr…Like the sound of it, love the feel of it, I suck at regularly practising it and one day I will beautifully play it! Amen.

10- Something you can’t live without?
I will give a frivolous answer for this one..can’t do without my shoes..I have loads and loads of them..different varieties.

My nominations for this award are:
Lindsay Rose

Wow this got pretty long..All done! Have a good day people!
P.S. : Nominees don’t feel obligated, I am telling you before hand.

Quotes #5 : The Inevitable Memories

We meet people accidently. We get to know them gradually. We start getting attached unknowingly. We lay our expectations anxiously. Some we fall in love with, some we start despising. Some we long for, some get on our nerves. Some we forget to remember, some we fail to forget. Every person we meet takes some corner of our memory. The good ones we revisit, the bad ones we lock up in a closet. In the same context, here goes quote for Day 3 of the Quote Challenge, nothing poignant, very basic. :).

Got nominated by Neerja for this and here are my nominations for today:

Quotes #4

Here is a quote for day 2 of the Quote Challenge. Jane Austen is someone I rely on for solutions; I agree to her opinions and I laugh at her humour. Love the author. About the quote: I don’t like vain people. They give me an itchy feeling. :D.

Got nominated by Neerja for this and I nominate following bloggers today:

Quotes #3 : and the Challenge!

I don’t know who wrote this quote, but it holds good for my current state of mind. Also, posting it as part of the Quote challenge Neerja nominated me for. This is Day 1. Thank you Neerja!

Well I nominate:

You guys might have already taken the challenge but I think you are pretty good with the nominations..:).

Ahoy Sisters!

So..this time it is Sisterhood of the world bloggers award. I feel overjoyed and humbled at the same time. I hardly knew such awards existed when I first started blogging…good or a way they do instigate you to keep writing. I guess that is certainly a good thing! 🙂
I got nominated by Lauren who is the cutest girl around in my blogspace..she is earthly and real and intelligent..She will frown on crappy things and rejoice on happy reading her posts..even love her blog title.. guys have got to check it out!

Alright..rules are pretty simple…you get nominated…you nominate other bloggers..and since it is the sisterhood…this time nominate only fellow girlie girls! Answer the questions you have been asked and then present your nominees the questions of your choice. So here are my answers to Lauren’s questions:

A guy had broken my heart and I wasn’t finding any comfort in talking to people around one of those days…blogging just was impromptu. And all is well now. :).

2. Do you like to read? If so, what book(s) would you recommend?
I do like to read, but I guess I am not a voracious reader. I love Jane Austen’s Persuasion and yeah I like Dan Brown’s novels. Currently read John Green’s Fault in our stars but it is a sob fest!

3. Do you prefer Converse or Toms?
I am more of those flip flops girl.. 😀 .but if you ask Converse..Toms haven’t much catched on in India yet.

4. What are some things that girls in their twenties should do? (any advice?)

5. What is your favorite Disney movie?
Well…right now Tangled is coming to my mind..i liked that movie.

Nooo…but I so darn wish. Want to keep a turtle or a bird. Just scared if I would be able to give it due care.

8. [This is stolen from Nicole, but it ‘s a great question!] What is your favorite quote and why?
I don’t have a “favourite” quote in particular, i love this one from “Flipped”:

Some of us get dipped in flat, some in satin, some in gloss; but every once in a while, you find someone who’s iridescent, and once you do, nothing will ever compare.

9. Pick a super-power you would want for a day.
I would want to fly and meet all of my loved ones in that one day.

10. What is your favorite family tradition?
Whenever we gather up..which is not very often…we go for picnics..I just love that time. And then there is this singing game antakshari that my family plays..I and my bro will team up against mom dad. It is super fun!
