…and will be delayed in doing so, as I am in writing this post.
Happy Women’s Day that was yesterday! 🙂
Do you have a friend who corrects every word you misspell? And cringes on every wrong pronunciation you make? Like their only purpose to be alive in this ever-so-happening world, is to pin point at your petty lingual mistakes. In that moment you want to kill them. Choke them around the neck and kill them! But then they happen to be right and you make a dorky face and let it pass! Do you have such friend or am I the only one doomed? Words like poignant, petulant, nonchalant, bourgeois….I would have never known how these words are spoken(rightly) if not for this nemesis cum friend. I am seeing her tomorrow after quite a few days. Looking forward to the trouble. :-). <3.
I fell while riding my scooter. Taking along my friend down, who sat behind me. This happened about four days ago. Yes, nothing serious. All bodily organs in place, working, with little bruises here and there. I normally would have made a big deal out of this incident. I am innately little dramatic about injuries. The blood clot on my left arm is actually making me want to chop off the whole arm altogether. So yeah, little dramatic. But this time around, it was my fault. Plus the added guilt of having made my friend trip. I stayed low-key. Bandaged up. Wore full sleeve shirts to office. No sympathy gaining.
The real surprise came today. We decided to go out for coffee. Yeah, the same friend and I. I was pretty sure she will prefer auto ride after “what had happened”. I mean she was still limping (i know! :/ ) And I was 10% unsure myself about my once-proven-faulty driving skills. But the gall, the balls, the whatever it took for her to say she will sit behind me again!!! I trust you, she said. In my head I went…whattttt?!! People amaze you sometimes. With their big foolish hearts. Days like this, when you won’t be sure about yourself and a few out there are still ready to take a chance on you. Makes you smile, isn’t it.
So we went, had coffee, chilled, returned home safely. End of story. :).
So..this time it is Sisterhood of the world bloggers award. I feel overjoyed and humbled at the same time. I hardly knew such awards existed when I first started blogging…good or bad..in a way they do instigate you to keep writing. I guess that is certainly a good thing! 🙂
I got nominated by Lauren who is the cutest girl around in my blogspace..she is earthly and real and intelligent..She will frown on crappy things and rejoice on happy moments..love reading her posts..even love her blog title.. https://justapreciouspenny.wordpress.com/..you guys have got to check it out!
Alright..rules are pretty simple…you get nominated…you nominate other bloggers..and since it is the sisterhood…this time nominate only fellow girlie girls! Answer the questions you have been asked and then present your nominees the questions of your choice. So here are my answers to Lauren’s questions:
1. Why did you start blogging?
A guy had broken my heart and I wasn’t finding any comfort in talking to people around me..so one of those days…blogging just happened..it was impromptu. And all is well now. :).
2. Do you like to read? If so, what book(s) would you recommend?
I do like to read, but I guess I am not a voracious reader. I love Jane Austen’s Persuasion and yeah I like Dan Brown’s novels. Currently read John Green’s Fault in our stars but it is a sob fest!
3. Do you prefer Converse or Toms?
I am more of those flip flops girl.. 😀 .but if you ask Converse..Toms haven’t much catched on in India yet.
4. What are some things that girls in their twenties should do? (any advice?)
Trips and lots of trips..and not holding yourself back from something you really want to do! Should do what your mind says. :). Age no bar.
5. What is your favorite Disney movie?
Well…right now Tangled is coming to my mind..i liked that movie.
6. If you could visit anywhere in the United States, where would you go?
Haven’t yet..but if I do visit I’ll try and cover a big slice..:)..New York first.
7. Do you have a pet?
Nooo…but I so darn wish. Want to keep a turtle or a bird. Just scared if I would be able to give it due care.
8. [This is stolen from Nicole, but it ‘s a great question!] What is your favorite quote and why?
I don’t have a “favourite” quote in particular, i love this one from “Flipped”:
Some of us get dipped in flat, some in satin, some in gloss; but every once in a while, you find someone who’s iridescent, and once you do, nothing will ever compare.
9. Pick a super-power you would want for a day.
I would want to fly and meet all of my loved ones in that one day.
10. What is your favorite family tradition?
Whenever we gather up..which is not very often…we go for picnics..I just love that time. And then there is this singing game antakshari that my family plays..I and my bro will team up against mom dad. It is super fun!
Questions for my ladies:
1. What drives you to write?
2. Five must haves when you are travelling?
3. Do you ever get jealous of your girl friends? And do you think it is normal?
4. What is you favorite thing to shop?
5. What is the most likeable thing about you, according to you?
6. Give me one good song that comes to your mind right now?
7. Nights or days?
8. One TV show you can watch over and over again? (Friends in my case)
9. What do you like about old times? 90s.
10. Say you were a guy instead of a girl, what difference would it make? (Apart from you missing on this nomination 😀 )
Anxious night ahead…I shopped and shopped today and then I stopped by a small shop on my way back home and forgot half of my baggage over there..what an idiot I am! Have to go back tomorrow morning and check if it is still there. @!?#*$~!?!!!! I stay all lost while traveling…I remember reading a middle aged man’s t-shirt on the way. It said:
“Laziness rule #1.
If you can’t reach it
You don’t need it”
I smiled seeing it. Amidst this hurried lost state of mind, I abandoned my belongings. Didn’t even look for it till late midnight. Plus, a restless person that I am..I won’t get sleep thinking about the 278 different scenarios that could have happened to it or with it. Why dear fate do you work in mysterious ways…it could have been a lazy Sunday night..cozy sleep..saccharine dreams..and now I lie awake waiting for the morning to arrive.
Sometimes my thoughts do trespass to a broader horizon where I ask myself..why such a fuss over superficial things? Why not just rest for a while. What if you lost a pretty dress. You’ll get another one. But these are just words. Reality bite: I am superficial to an extent. Let’s just accept things the way they are. If I lose on the dress tomorrow..Well I won’t encourage unsolicited ifs and buts for now. Time is taking its own sweet time. I don’t reckon what lies ahead. Not tomorrow morning nor the days after that.
I think girls are beautiful creatures of god. I mean I am all about praising men, but today i want to NOT mention them anywhere. There is something about girls you know…the air of mystery..the inhibition to not let it all out..the smile..the unconscious gestures of moving their fingers around their ear…the cuteness…the sultriness..the mood swings….the giggles…the caring instinct…the hairs..ooh the hairs in all sort of varieties…the uncalled for tears and their futile attempts to stop them…the bracelets around their wrists, or anklets around their slender feet or lockets around their neck or those cute hair clips…the copious amount of products they purchase…and the seldomness with which they use those products..how they shower love…how they feign to be mad…how they don’t make eye contact when actually mad…how they looooove to dress up…and how they equally loooove to stay in jammies..i am telling you…girls are full of adorable peculiarities. They can be pain in the ass at times, true. But aren’t they disarming enough for you to bear some pain?! You might be amidst a tornado of life changing decisions to make, and a particular she will call you up and make it all mellow. I love being a girl! It is occuring to me today. :).
